This Privacy Notice explains how Lester Mak (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects and uses personal data when you use the Websites, contact me, make a booking, or sign up to receive updates/newsletters.
I am based in the United Kingdom. For data protection purposes, I am the data controller for personal data collected via these Websites.

Like most websites, the Websites and their hosting platform may process limited technical/usage information such as:

This is primarily used for operating, securing, and improving the Websites.
1.3 How and why I use your data (purposes and lawful bases)
Under UK GDPR I must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. I use data for the following purposes:
To respond to enquiries (from the contact form or direct email)
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (communicating with people who contact me) and/or steps prior to entering a contract.
To manage and administer bookings (free calls via Microsoft Bookings)
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (arranging and administering calls) and/or steps prior to entering a contract (if a call relates to potential services).
To send newsletters/updates (if you opt in)
Lawful basis: Consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email (where provided) or by contacting me.
To operate, secure, and improve the Websites
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (running a secure, functional website and understanding how it is used).
To comply with legal obligations

1.4 Where your data comes from
Directly from you (forms, bookings, newsletter sign-up)
Automatically from your device/browser when you use the Websites (technical data)
1.5 Who I share personal data with
I do not sell your personal data.
I may share personal data with service providers that help run the Websites and provide functionality, including:
Squarespace (website hosting and Squarespace contact forms)
Microsoft (Microsoft Bookings for scheduling and booking administration)
Newsletter provider (to be selected; may include Substack or another email platform)
These providers may process personal data under their own terms and privacy policies, and (depending on the service) as processors and/or independent controllers.
1.6 International data transfers
Some service providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers will be protected using appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (for example, international data transfer agreements and/or other approved mechanisms, depending on the provider).
1.7 Cookies and similar technologies
I am not currently using additional trackers on the Websites beyond what Squarespace provides.
Squarespace may use cookies and similar technologies necessary to:
make the Websites function properly
help maintain security and performance
Cookie banner/consent: you indicated you do not currently run a cookie banner. If you later add non-essential cookies/analytics/embeds, you may need to enable a consent mechanism depending on the technologies used and applicable law.

1.8 How long I keep your personal data (retention)
I keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above.
Typical retention periods:

Booking records (free calls): up to 24 months after the date of the call
Newsletter subscription data: until you unsubscribe (then I will keep a suppression record as needed to ensure you are not re-added unintentionally)

These Terms apply to your use of the Websites. By using the Websites, you agree to these Terms.

2.5 Bookings (free calls)
If you book a free call via Microsoft Bookings:

I may reschedule or cancel a booking where necessary (for example, due to illness or unforeseen circumstances) and will provide reasonable notice where possible
2.6 Availability and security
I may modify, suspend, or withdraw the Websites (or any part of them) at any time. I do not guarantee the Websites will always be available or error-free.
